WARP Act of 2026

This bill would require the Secretary of Defense to begin, by August 1, 2027, an assessment of how the use of artificial intelligence systems by Defense Department personnel affects their ability to keep essential military skills. A senior official would be named to coordinate the assessment and carry out research, such as experiments and long-term studies comparing performance with and without AI. The Secretary would report findings and recommendations on training, doctrine, and policy to the congressional defense committees within one year and again within three years, followed by briefings.
