Full-Service Community School Expansion Act of 2026

This bill would change the federal full-service community school program, which funds schools that partner with local groups to offer students and families services such as health care, meals, tutoring, and family programs alongside classroom learning. It would authorize $500 million in fiscal year 2027, rising each year to $1 billion in fiscal year 2031. The Secretary of Education would award competitive planning, implementation, and expansion grants to local school districts and partner organizations, plus grants to States and technical assistance. Eligible schools would be public schools where at least 40 percent of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, or that the State has identified as needing extra support. Grant recipients would have to hire community school coordinators, form leadership teams that include parents and staff, hold leadership meetings open to the public, and report on student outcomes.
