PSLF Payment Completion Fairness Act

This bill changes the rules for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program in the Higher Education Act of 1965. Under current law, a borrower must be working in a public service job at the time their loan is forgiven, in addition to having worked in public service while making the required payments. The bill removes the requirement to be employed in public service at the time of forgiveness. Borrowers would still need to have worked in public service during the period when they made their qualifying payments.
