Badge-to-Business Act

This bill changes the Small Business Administration's express loan program for career law enforcement officers. Starting January 1, 2027, the agency could not charge its usual loan guarantee fee on express loans to officers who have served at least 10 years. The agency could charge the fee again in a fiscal year if guaranteeing these loans costs the agency money. Current officers qualify only if they are not under a pending criminal investigation or misconduct proceeding tied to their official duties. Former officers qualify only if they were not under such an investigation or proceeding when they left service.
