Protecting Communities from Data Center Impacts Act of 2026

This bill directs the Environmental Protection Agency to seek an agreement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to study how data centers affect the environment and public health. The study would cover noise pollution, air pollution, water use and water supply, carbon emissions, and waste, including electronic waste. The National Academies would also develop recommendations to reduce these impacts. A report with the results and recommendations would go to committees in the House and Senate within 180 days after the bill becomes law.
