FRESH Act

This bill would require the Secretary of Agriculture to run a competitive grant program to help schools buy and install cold storage equipment for milk or milk dispensers in elementary and secondary schools. Local educational agencies, school food authorities that run school meal programs, tribal organizations, and groups that include them could apply. Federal grant money could cover no more than 75 percent of a project's cost. The bill would authorize $4 million per year for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 for the program.
