Protect the Presidency Act

This bill would change federal law on attempts to kill or kidnap the President and certain other officials, such as the Vice President, the President-elect, and senior White House staff. Under current law, an attempt is punishable by imprisonment. The bill would add the death penalty as a possible punishment for these attempts. Imprisonment would remain an option.
