American Artificial Intelligence Leadership and Uniformity Act
Refreshed 5 h ago
Introduced 2025-09-16Topic: technology privacy · governance ethics · economy jobsSummary
AI-generated summary, report an errorThis bill would bar states and local governments, for five years after it becomes law, from enforcing their own laws or rules that limit or regulate artificial intelligence models, AI systems, or automated decision systems used in interstate commerce. State and local laws that make it easier to use AI, generally applicable criminal laws, and rules a government sets for its own purchase or use of AI would still be allowed. The bill would also require the President to send Congress a National Artificial Intelligence Action Plan within 30 days and update it every year. The plan would review earlier federal AI executive actions, list state and local laws that conflict with the bill's policy, and recommend whether to change or extend the five-year limit on state laws.
