Save Our Ships Act

This bill creates the Historic Naval Ship Preservation Grant Program in the Department of the Interior, run through the National Park Service. The program would award competitive grants to state or local governments and nonprofit groups that run museums, memorials, or other sites that display decommissioned military ships and submarines. Grants could pay for repairing and maintaining these vessels, addressing environmental hazards or damage, and running education and workforce programs about military maritime careers such as shipbuilding. The bill authorizes $5 million per year for the program starting in fiscal year 2026.
