Enhancing COPS Hiring Program Grants for Local Law Enforcement Act

This bill changes federal law on Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants. It would let grant money be used to pay bonuses to recruit and keep law enforcement officers. The bonuses would apply to agencies that are seeing fewer new recruits or a high rate of officers retiring or resigning. The bill also adds a definition of "law enforcement officer" that points to an existing definition in the same law.
