Housing Our Communities Act

This bill would require the Department of Housing and Urban Development to set up, within one year, a competitive grant program for affordable housing planning and implementation. Regional planning agencies could use grants for planning work such as housing plans, zoning code updates, and housing inspection capacity. States, insular areas, metropolitan cities, and urban counties could use grants to carry out housing plans, reformed zoning rules, and community investments. New housing construction would be an eligible expense, and no more than 10 percent of a grant could go to administrative costs.
